The World Orchestra Festival Past, Present and Future

The annual World Orchestra Festival (WOF) was founded in 2013 under the concept of "One Future". Its goal is to provide a platform for orchestras from various countries and of all ages, but especially youth orchestras, to perform, communicate, learn, compete, form friendships, share their culture and art, promote cultural diversity through music, and, ultimately, to create a better future.

Since its inception, the WOF has received enthusiastic support and recognition from the Austrian and regional government, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Boys' Choir, the Haydn Foundation, and the Liszt Cultural Center, as well as internationally renowned musicians and educators, and has established itself as one of the world's premier orchestra festivals.

The Festival welcomes symphony and chamber orchestras, folk and jazz ensembles, woodwind, percussion and brass orchestras, marching bands, and other types of groups to participate in the numerous activities.

From the educational side, the participating teams are provided with various types of master classes, workshops, and exchange seminars. There they have the opportunity to interact face-to-face with the professors from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, members of the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and other famous musicians and music educators, and learn advanced methods and superb skills from experts, laying a more solid foundation for the further development.

The paticipants also get the opportunity to gain unique experience on stage, performing in amazing Vienna venues. Whether it is the world-famous Golden Hall, the Vienna Concert Hall, or the Royal Theater with a long history, they are all excellent places for musicians to test their skills, increase their knowledge, and showcase their talents.

While winning is not the festival's ultimate goal, each orchestra can voluntarily sign up to participate in the orchestra competition session, which has been organized to encourage the orchestra's positive spirit and help it reach a higher artistic level. The competition is performed in front of a jury made up of world-class experts who oversee and evaluate the competition in an impartial, just, and fair manner. Teams that participate can win gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as invaluable advice from the judges.

In the end, everybody is a winner because these experience are priceless and we create memories together that will last forever.
