BIAN Zushan, China’s legendary conductor. He studied conducting with Prof. Jiaren Yang after he was enrolled at Shanghai Conservatory of Music directly from the high school affiliated to the conservatory in 1956. He graduated with honor in 1961 and was the first ever orchestra conductor to be trained in the new China. BIAN Zushan was the former chief conductor of the National Ballet of China, former council member of Chinese Musicians Association, vice president of the Society of Symphony Enthusiasts of Chinese Musicians Association, and special director of Chinese Film Music Society. BIAN Zushan is the nation’s first-class conductor, winner of the China Golden Record Award, and enjoys special government allowances of the State Council.
