Conductor , the Leipzig Symphonic Orchestra
 
Born in Leipzig and trained as a professional dancer, Andreas Mitschke studied musicology, history of art and church - music before focusing on conducting. His experience comes from being assisting the MDR child choir and being the deputy choral director of the Suhl boys choir and the Suhl singers’ academy. Important influences came from courses and workshops with Sir Roger Norrington, Thomas Hengelbrock, Simon Halsey and Ton Koopmann. In 2007 he founded the enchore Leipzig ensemble from former singers of the MDR children's choir, with which he performed in competitions and concerts both at home and abroad. With them, he won, amongst others, 1st place in the 2009 Saxony choir competition. Multiple radio and tv recordings document this work. Since 2014 conducts the Jazz Choir “inTune” Halle. 
His open-air performance of the Verdi-Requiem in Dresden in 2011 was awarded the 1st cultural award of the EKD. Also in the same year he assisted GMD Frank Beermann (Wagner: Tristian and Isolde) for the Wagner production of the North-West-German Philharmonic Orchestra (NWD). Andreas Mitschke performed concerts with the Staatskapelle Halle, the Jena Philharmonic, the Magdeburg Philharmonic, Anhaltische Phiharmonie Dessau, the Leipzig Symphonic Orchestra, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra and Hannoverschen Hofkapelle. Currently, a central German youth baroque orchestra is being founded under his auspices, championed by Ton Koopman.
Past highlights include concerts of Richard Wagner’s „Liebesmahl der Apostel“ and Symphonie C major within the international Wagner Festival 2015 in Leipzig (with the Leipzig Symophony Orchestra) and the performance of Ralph Vaughan Williams „A Sea Symphony“ in Gewandhaus Leipzig 2016. 2017 he conducted a highly acclaimed open-air production in Leipzig as well as Concerts with Staatskapelle Halle. 2018 he teached in China conducting masterclasses and presented the new edition of Handels Messiah (of Malcom Bruno) with his baroque ensemble at Thomaschurch Leipzig. 
Andreas Mitschke worked together with internationally renowned soloists such as Matthias Kirschnereit (piano), Ragna Schirmer (piano), Gustav Rivinius (Cello), Carolin Masur (vocals) and could, amongst others, be experienced at the MDR-musical summer, the Leipzig Bach Festival, the Salzgitter musical days, as well as the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig and the Gewandhaus Leipzig.
